Spring in Alaska

Hello from Alaska.

Spring has arrived and now we hope to dig out of the snow bank which measured over 12'.

We are working on a Prayer Letter and should have it out by weeks end.

Have a Great Day and let us know if you are out there.

Snow!!!!!!!!!

We are up to 7 feet of snow to date and expect more this week.  Temperatures are starting to go down again and we should see negative temps this next week.

Got the snow machine dug out of the snow and changed the spark plug as it was not running right.

Will be butchering chickens the next few days as we now know who is a Rooster and who is not!

The chicken and dumplings should be forth coming.

Stay Warm out there.

Winter is Coming!

The weather has been frosty and on the cool side.  -46 so far!

We have had approximately 6 foot of snow in total although it settles after a time.

The pipes in the cabin are sluggish at best.  The snow machine will not run right and so all forms of transportation include walking with much winter gear on!

We expect when winter actually is declared in the rest of the country we will have a head start on everyone else.

Pray for warmer weather trends so chickens and goats can relax.

Also pray for better weather so we can get out and about in the community.

Stay Warm!

Happy Summer from Alaska.    August 12, 2011

We have had a far too normal summer - rain almost every day.  The temperatures are now in the low 40’s and dipping into the high 30’s at night.  The flowers are almost finished for the year.  We anticipate a huge snowpack winter coming.   We have had to dig out the front of the cabin about 5 feet deep to work on the buried logs holding up our cabin.  The roof leaks, the basement leaks, the walls leak - everything leaks!

Praise The LORD:  The Radio Station equipment is actually on it’s way  (we have been assured).  The tower must be up before the ground gets too hard but we can’t get it up until the equipment arrives on site.  All hand digging and mixing of concrete the village way.  Does a shovel fit your hand????

Praise The LORD:  The boat we bought off Craig’s List in May is scheduled to come to McGrath on the next chartered airplane.

Praise The LORD:  The small Ministry House we have that is down by the Kuskokwim River is now jacked up and  on blocks ready for the move to the front of the property at our cabin.  We have been waiting two years for a village man to move it; he is the only one with a loader big enough to pull it through the village to our lot.  We now need to raise the $2500.00 it is going to cost to move the house.  Please pray about this special need.

Praise The LORD:  Northland Baptist Bible Camp is paid off!!!!!!!  The deed is suppose to come in the mail soon and we are anxiously awaiting to see the real deal in the mail.

Praise The LORD:  It is time to announce our new Youth Program Holly and I have been designing and building.  “Honor Scouts” will be for preschool through 21 years of age.  We have churches lined up to begin using it in the Fall of 2012.  There will be Mandatory Church Attendance, Bible Passage Reading related to the Honor Badge the student is attempting to earn, Bible Memory Verses, Mastery of Skill in over 50 different badge options with more being added all the time, and Badge Skill Proficiency Testing and Review prior to the awarding of an Honor Badge.  We are focusing on common sense skills such as Bible, First Aid, Archery, Rope Craft, Canoeing, Cooking, Camping, Sewing, Carpentry, Electrical, Electronics, Plumbing, Winter Survival, Small Engine Mechanics, etc.  The Bible Section, when completed, will be the equivalent of a full Bible Institute curriculum.   We believe this will be a powerful tool in the missionaries hands on the foreign field as well as here at home.

As today is my birthday, I sense the need to keep going, even harder than before.  Time is short and making use of the gift of life is an imperative.  Colossians 4:5 Walk in wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time.
Please pray for our Ministry, Health, Finances, and Wisdom.
We thank you for your care, thoughts, prayers and             support.
We value and thank the Lord for your steadfast part in this ministry.

We will attempt to have regular updates.

New Computer Now In Service

Old computer had major issues.  Very old, almost as old as I, yet we hope to retrieve information stored in it.

We almost have a floor in the house.

No electrical yet and plumbing is out but possibilities lurk around the corner.

Look for updates more frequent as time allows.

Have a great day!

Fireweed in Bloom

As we work to try and get the house weathered in, we noticed the fireweed is already two inches in bloom. That usually indicated early winter coming. Now we hope the boat makes it to the mighty Kuskokwim before freeze up.

Continually visiting around and making contacts. We have not received the radio station equipment from England as of yet -that is where it was ordered from.

Pray for good weather and safety as we work on the house. No injuries as of yet except for the sledge hammer falling on the sink and smashing it. Anyone have a good sink for a bathroom?

Received windshield wipers in the mall yesterday. 2 wiper blades on the old truck! Yahoo.

Pray for Holly as she is going to doctors this past and next week for a newly diagnosed health issue. Three more visits next week as well as extensive blood work.

Have a great weekend.

Parson Carson.

The Boat Saga Continues

We were told last night that the boat that is coming from Anchorage on the airplane is too large to fit on the plane.  The trailer it is on must be "disassembled" and the boat motor removed etc., before they will get it on the plane.  Of course we were never told any of this when the seller dropped it off at the airport.  Now we hope to find someone in Anchorage that can do whatever is required to boat/trailer/motor to meet the airplanes requirements so the boat can actually make it to McGrath before the Kuskokwim River freezes over.  We need to get fish caught to help fill the freezer for winter feed as well as animal feed.  The fish make a good food supplement for the chickens, etc.

Pray for safety as we work on the house, try to get the small boat to McGrath for making visits up and down the river, health as we work long hours, and finances to finish the house project and boat shipping expenses.

The Bible Camp in Meadow Lakes payoff is just under $10,000.00 now.  It must be paid off in full in September for the final balloon payment.

Pray all goes well and the camp can be finally debt free.
